Two Prolific Retail Offenders Arrested in Oval ward

We’re pleased to share a positive outcome following two proactive investigations into a series of shoplifting affecting a local business in Oval ward. Two prolific offenders have recently been arrested by the team on the Oval Safer Neighbourhood Team following a joint team effort tackling shoplifting.

On 17/04/2026, one offender was arrested for a total of 30 shoplifting offences with a total value of over £1800 after being recognised by local officers nearby to the store affected. They were later charged and remanded to court for these offences and the court proceedings are ongoing.

Yesterday, 27/04/2026, another offender was arrested for a total of 35 shoplifting offences with a total value of over £1300 inside of the store affected during a shoplifting operation at the store. They have been charged and remanded to court for these offences. 

Overall these are some great results, demonstrating the value of partnership working and showing offenders that actions do have consequences in Oval ward.
